Richard Sherman understands trade talk is just business

Richard Sherman

Recent news suggested that the Seattle Seahawks would consider trading All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman if the right circumstances presented themselves.

Speaking up as the bait in a potential trade, Sherman said he understands “it’s a business.”

“I wouldn’t want to leave this city and my guys, but I understand it’s a business and organizational philosophies change,” Sherman told Gee Scott of 710 ESPN in Seattle.”

Head coach Pete Carroll didn’t completely rule out a trade talking with reporters about the matter on Wednesday (more on that here). General manager John Schneider said that he does take calls about several players but has no plans to trade his best cornerback. That doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t happen, though. Plans change all the time in the NFL.

A recent report indicated that the New England Patriots are one of the teams that have enquired about Sherman.

Naturally, all this trade talk has led us to envision how the Seahawks could actually benefit from moving Sherman.

Seattle isn’t closing the door on these talks but is playing it safe so it won’t have to deal with a mess if nothing happens. Thankfully, Sherman seems to understand none of this is personal.
