As the Detroit Pistons look to squeak into the playoffs with one last run to end the season, it looks like the team is facing some real off-court drama.

According to WDIV in Michigan, Starting shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was arrested early Wednesday morning on suspicion of DUI in Auburn Hills. The team confirmed his arrest following its win over the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday.

“Police said Caldwell-Pope was pulled over around 2:50 a.m. Wednesday on Auburn Road near Squirrel Road after being clocked driving 45 mph in a 25 mph zone,” the report read. “The advanced roadside impairment officer said when he walked up to the car, he smelled alcohol. He put Caldwell-Pope through sobriety tests and placed him under arrest, police said.”

This came mere hours after Detroit dropped a heartbreaker against the Miami Heat on a Hassan Whiteside game winning tip-in. It’s a loss that pretty much ended the Pistons’ playoff hopes. They are currently 2.5 games behind Indiana for the final playoff spot with just six games remaining.

Depending on the outcome of the case, Caldwell-Pope surely faces disciplinary action from the NBA. The 24-year-old guard is averaging 14.1 points while shooting just 40 percent from the field. This is something that could impact his status as a restricted free agent during the summer.
