Marquette King retrieves the cleats Marshawn Lynch hung up when announcing retirement

Marquette King Marshawn Lynch

Marshawn Lynch unofficially announced his retirement from the NFL in a memorable way, using social media to “hang up his cleats.”

On Sunday, amid rumors that Lynch could be angling to return to the NFL as a member of the Oakland Raiders, punter Marquette King continued lobbying for Lynch to join him in Oakland with a memorable social media post of his own.

This tweet followed on the heels of two that King sent to Lynch on Saturday.

Lynch himself may have given the biggest hint yet that he really does want to join Oakland with a retweeted message on Saturday night (more on that here).

Of course, in order for Beast Mode to make his way to Oakland, he’ll need the Seattle Seahawks to either trade or release him, which is something he’s apparently been working towards, depending on which rumor you buy into.

Regardless of what happens next, that Lynch is still this relevant a year removed from retiring from the game speaks to his immense value. And for what it’s worth, we’d love to see him wearing Silver and Black in the year 2017.
