All Kristi Yamaguchi wanted to do was wish fellow Olympic figure skater Nancy Kerrigan well on her upcoming journey on Dancing With the Stars. It makes perfect sense, as the two were prominent American figure skaters at the same time, and Yamaguchi is a past Dancing With the Stars champion.
The intent was clearly to throw her support behind her former Olympic teammate. But given the Kerrigan’s history, the term “break a leg” is more than a little awkward.

It certainly could have been worse. Given her history, we have no doubt that Yamaguchi meant well. If this was Tonya Harding, however, it might be more problematic.
