Coveted Pro Bowl OG T.J. Lang signs three-year deal with Lions

The Detroit Lions have pilfered one of their divisional rivals’ best free agents, agreeing to terms on a three-year deal for offensive guard T.J. Lang.

His agent tweeted out the news.

Lang, a Pro Bowler this past year, has spent the past eight years with the Green Bay Packers. Originally a fourth-round draft pick out of Eastern Michigan in 2009, he has been a full-time starter since 2011, logging 94 starts throughout his career.

The former Packers stalwart won a ring with Green Bay in Super Bowl XLV. He joins another coveted free agent offensive lineman, Rick Wagner, as a 2017 acquisition by Detroit and gives the Lions.

The Packers had been trying to bring Lang back, and his absence will be difficult to overcome.

These additions give Detroit a tremendous lineup with which to protect Matthew Stafford, who had a fantastic season until a painful hand injury caused him to struggle in the final weeks. They should both be viewed as upgrades over Riley Reiff and Larry Warford, who were also free agents this year and landed elsewhere.
