Colts DL David Parry charged with two felonies, could face significant jail time

David Parry

Indianapolis Colts defensive lineman David Parry has officially been charged with two felonies stemming from a drunken episode on February 25 in which he stole a golf cart and threatened police officers.

“According to court records from Maricopa County Superior Court, Parry, 25, was charged with theft of a means of transportation and resisting arrest with physical force – both felonies – as well as misdemeanor assault for the incident that followed a night of drinking in the Phoenix suburb,” per Stephen Holder of the Indy Star.

Parry is said to have uttered a few derogatory slurs when he was approached by police, and he reportedly threatened to “come at them” during the exchange. He is also said to have been so drunk he was dry heaving while in jail afterward.

If Parry is convicted of both felonies, he faces significant jail time.

“The official charges he now faces come with a range of possible penalties. The auto theft charge, a Class 3 felony, could result in up to seven years in prison. Resisting arrest with physical force can be penalized with up to two years in prison. The assault charge is punishable by up to one year of imprisonment.”

Parry has been a two-year starter with the Colts at the nose tackle position. He was originally a fifth-round pick out of Stanford by Indianapolis in the 2015 NFL Draft.
