Charles Oakley and Patrick Ewing were teammates for 10 years as members of the New York Knicks. So it’s not surprising to learn Oakley is upset his old playing partner didn’t reach out to him following his much publicized incident at Madison Square Garden earlier this season.
“I’m hurting because he didn’t call in and show love because I had his back for 10 years,” Oakley told TMZ Sports. “You should have been the first one who said something about what happened in The Garden,” he continued, as if speaking to Ewing. “Should have been the FIRST ONE.”
Others, like Reggie Miller, who used to be one of the biggest rival player the Knicks played against back in the day, have come to Oakley’s defense.
Heck, His Airness Michael Jordan himself helped bring Oakley and Knicks owner James Dolan to some form of reconciliation (more on that here).
Yet Oakley says Ewing wasn’t there for him when he needed help the most. And that certainly is going to sting.
