Barry Bonds to re-join San Francisco Giants organization

Barry Bonds

He’s back. According to Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area, 14-time All-Star and seven-time MVP Barry Bonds will re-join the San Francisco Giants in a front office position.

The 52-year-old spent 15 seasons with the Giants. He famously hit 73 home runs in 2001 which remains the all-time record for home runs hit in a season. This is in addition to his all-time home run number of 762 that remains untouched.

He has yet to be elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame after his first four years of eligibility much in part to his role in the steroid scandal.

In 2007, Bonds was indicted on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice for allegedly lying to the grand jury during the federal government’s investigation of BALCO. The charges were dropped, and he was also initially convicted of obstruction of justice, but that charge was overturned in 2015.

But, in a recent report, Fox Sports baseball analyst Ken Rosenthal wrote the “PED wall is crumbling” for the Hall of Fame voters.

Bonds served as a hitting coach with the Miami Marlins in 2016.
