Tony Gonzalez on White House snubs: ‘I think it’s silly’

Tony Gonzalez

Former NFL star tight end and future Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez isn’t a fan of players snubbing the White House after winning a Super Bowl.

Speaking with TMZ Sports, Gonzalez explained his stance.

“If they don’t wanna go, that’s their right,” Tony said … “For me, I think that’s silly. If you’ve got a problem, go there and meet him! Say something! That’s your opportunity to get your voice out there, to get heard. Tell him what’s on your mind,” he added … “Maybe he’ll listen.”

There have been a handful of New England Patriots players who have stated they won’t be attending. Chris Long is one of them, and LeGarrette Blount is as well. He told the Rich Eisen Show he doesn’t feel welcome by the Donald Trump White House (more on that here).

That said, Gonzalez’s statement has plenty of merit.

An invitation to the White House would give players a chance to voice their concerns and opinions. Though, perhaps they feel as though it wouldn’t matter anyway, which is why they have made it clear they won’t attend.
