Report: Knicks F Kristaps Porzingis out with ankle injury

Kristaps Porzingis is a name to watch as NBA trades go down

One day after leaving the court against the Cleveland Cavaliers with an ankle injury, it’s being reported that second-year New York Knicks big man Kristaps Porzingis will miss some time with a sprained ankle.

The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski shared the news, also making sure to note that there is no ligament damage to Porzingis’ ankle.

Porzingis put up eight points, five boards and two emphatic blocks prior to exiting Thursday’s loss to Cleveland. With New York boasting a 23-35 record on the season, there’s really no reason to rush their future franchise player back on to the court.

In his second season, Porzingis is averaging 18.1 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting at a 38 percent clip from distance.

Unfortunately for the young forward, he has dealt with multiple minor injuries throughout his young career. The good news is that none of them have been of the long-term variety.

As such, he continues to impress on the court for an otherwise downtrodden Knicks team going through a ton of drama. He’s only expected to miss “several days.”
