Report: Adrian Peterson wants to play alongside ‘established QB’

Adrian Peterson

On Tuesday, it was announced that the Minnesota Vikings decided not not pick up running back Adrian Peterson’s option for his final contract year. He is now headed into 2017 as a free agent.

It did not take long us to see what Peterson is looking for as he weighs his options in the upcoming weeks.

Peterson was slated to make $18 million in 2017 with Minnesota. That’s huge chunk of change considering his age and health concerns. The running back hits free agency after a down year when he managed only 72 rushing yards of of 37 carries in three games.

We can ascertain from Peterson’s criteria about playing with a seasoned quarterback, that a team such as the Cleveland Browns or New York Jets would probably not be his first choice.

It should be interesting to see where free agency takes Peterson. He turns 32 later in March and if he can stay healthy, he should still be able to contribute at a high level. A team with a stronger offensive line could see him performing better than he did in his final season in Minnesota.

Peterson’s phone will likely be ringing off the hook this spring very soon.
