The gaping rift between New York Knicks owner James Dolan and former player Charles Oakley has marred the NBA for the past week.

According to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News, NBA commissioner and NBA legend Michael Jordan might be part of the solution.

“According to a source, the league office is considering having NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Michael Jordan step in to mediate a reconciliation,” wrote Isola.

The problems started when Oakley became belligerent during a Knicks game he was attending at Madison Square Garden. He was ejected from the stadium and arrested by police for his actions, then proceeded to go on a verbal rampage to anyone who’d listen.

Many have stood beside Oakley, taking his side of the argument, including NBA great and current television analyst Reggie Miller, who ripped into the Knicks (more on that here).

Not surprisingly, Dolan has since banned Oakley from entering The Garden.

Meanwhile, Dolan had none other than Latrell Sprewell sitting next to him during the last Knicks game, and the two of them hadn’t even spoken for more than a decade. It was clearly just a show, and a bad one at that.

Perhaps at this point the only way anything will be resolved is if extreme measures are taken, much like the solution Isola reported is potentially in the works.
