Nick Young throws shade at former Lakers head coach Byron Scott

Nick Young

Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick Young is having one of the best seasons of his 10-year NBA career. The always entertaining figure is averaging  13.8 points per game while shooting at a stellar 41 percent mark from three-point range.

Never afraid to tell the media what is on his mind, Young attributes his new-found success to first-year Lakers head coach Luke Walton. He also has some choice words about former Los Angeles head coach Byron Scott.

“With having a coach behind me, I don’t have to look over my shoulder or worry about coming out. That plays a major part,” Young said, via the Orange County Register. “It messes up with your whole cycle when you have a coach who harps on everything you do and talks so down on you. It was tough.”

Those are some harsh words right there. Though, it’s not a secret that Scott wore out his welcome with both Lakers players and the team’s front office.

Interestingly enough, the Lakers head into the All-Star Break having already won two more games than they did all of last season. It’s readily apparent that Walton himself has acted as an upgrade over the aforementioned Scott. That’s obviously translated to Young, who is not afraid to let the public know who he prefers.
