Kings C DeMarcus Cousins suspended after receiving 16th technical

DeMarcus Cousins

Like we have seen throughout the majority of his NBA career, a hot temper got the best of Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins Monday night against the Chicago Bulls.

It started after Cousins and teammate Matt Barnes went after a Bulls assistant coach in the third quarter. Cousins was assessed a technical for shoving the assistant.

Then, as the game drew to a conclusion in Sacramento, Cousins lost his cool on an official after not receiving a foul call. The game was already pretty much over at this point with Chicago leading by two possessions.

But after Cousins didn’t get a call from the officials on a desperation heave, he absolutely erupted and was thrown out of the game with a second technical.

Considering this was Cousins’ 16th technical of the season, he will automatically be suspended for Wednesday’s game against the Boston Celtics.

This also means that Cousins will be suspended for every technical from here on out for the remainder of the season. Folks, it’s not even the All-Star break yet.

This comes the same day that Kings general manager Vlade Divac emphatically declared that the team will not deal Cousins prior to the trade deadline later this month (more on that here).

One simply has to start wondering if the Kings can continue to put up with this crap from Cousins. The team could potentially be vying for a playoff spot down the stretch this season.

It can’t have Boogie going off on officials and the opposing team on a consistent basis like this. Heck, he’s now on a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to technicals. Let’s see how that plays out for the remainder of the season.
