Carson Palmer refutes reports that his house is on the market

A report surfaced on Tuesday that Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer had put his house on the market, moved out of state and pulled his children from school.

It wouldn’t normally be a news-worthy piece of information. But with continued talk about Palmer potentially retiring, every step he takes off the field will be closely watched.

Now, Palmer is refuting the report that his Arizona-based house is on the market.

“No, my house in Arizona is not on the market,” Palmer told Pro Football Talk. “And every year we have taken off for offseason family adventures so there’s nothing to read into there either.”

There has been rampant rumors that both Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald will retire this offseason. Those rumors intenstified after neither refused to commit to playing for the Cardinals in 2017 (more on that here).

Though, as Palmer said in that statement, there’s not a whole bunch to read into his recent off-field decisions. It’s simply something he’s done throughout his career.

In reality, Palmer is nowhere near a guarantee to return to the Cardinals next season. He suffered through a physically trying 2016 campaign and has been injury plagued throughout his 13-year NFL career. At 37, Palmer might just decide enough is enough.
