Bruce Arians: Carson Palmer ‘will announce he’s coming back real soon’

Rest easy, Arizona Cardinals fans. Head coach Bruce Arians isn’t worried that Carson Palmer will retire before he’s played at least one more year.

There has been some bit of concern that Palmer might be leaning towards retirement. This was especially blown up when it was reported he had listed his Arizona home for sale and was moving his family out of state.

After hearing about that rumor, Palmer quickly shot it down, saying he and his family always take a retreat after the season (more on that here).

Furthermore, not long after that another report indicated Palmer was leaning towards returning to the Cardinals to play the 2017 season. This falls in line with what Arians said, so it seems reasonable to assume the Cardinals won’t need to find another starting quarterback heading into next season.

However, this does really highlight the fact that Arizona needs to start planning for a future in which Palmer isn’t there. One or maybe two more seasons is all that we can reasonably expect from the 37-year-old passer, and he has two years left on his current contract.
