Stephen Curry honoring President Obama on MLK Day

As the Golden State Warriors look to make a statement on the court against the Cleveland Cavaliers Monday evening, the team is surely making a statement off the court.

In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, All-Star forward Draymond Green is wearing these specialized shoes to honor the civil rights icon (more on that here).

Now, it looks like two-time reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry is following suit. Though, Curry himself is honoring outgoing President Barack Obama mere days before his second term is set to come to an end.

Obama, the first African-American president in the history of this nation, has been an inspiration to minorities around the United States.

His ascension to the highest office in the land speaks volumes regarding the impact Dr. King and others had in their fight for equality in this nation.

As America enters an uncertain time and with racial tension continuing to boil over, it’s important that we take a step back and pay respects to the leaders of the past. Curry surely is doing that while paying homage to a man that he’s become close to over the years.
