Seahawks CB DeShawn Shead leaves game with knee injury

Joe Nicholson, USA Today Sports

The Seattle Seahawks’ defense is getting cooked by Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons in Saturday’s NFC Divisional Playoff game. All said, Atlanta put up 19 points and over 200 yards of total offense in the first half alone.

Unfortunately for Seattle, the third quarter did not start out according to plan. Starting cornerback DeShawn Shead went to the turf with what appears to be a serious knee injury. Shead, who was injured on a non-contact play, was seen on the turf at the Georgia Dome holding his knee as teammates prayed nearby.

This could be a major blow to Seattle as it looks to overcome a two-score deficit to remain alive in the playoffs. Shead has performed at an exceptionally high level opposite Richard Sherman this season.

Shead is officially listed as questionable to return with a knee injury.

If he’s out for the remainder of the game, it could make an already elite Falcons offense that much better, pretty much ending Seattle’s hopes of a comeback in the process.
