Report: During meeting with Phil Jackson, Carmelo Anthony reaffirms desire to stay with Knicks

Rest easy, New York Knicks fans. Carmelo Anthony isn’t going anywhere.

The All-Star forward met with Phil Jackson on Tuesday to hash out some stuff regarding an article posted by Jackson’s media friend that indicated the Knicks might be ready to move on. An article that had Anthony ready to get to the bottom of the team’s desire to keep him or not (more on that here).

During the meeting with Jackson, Anthony reportedly reaffirmed his desire to remain with the Knicks, per Adrian Wojnarowski or The Vertical. He also made it clear during the “calm, business like” meeting that he’s not waiving his no-trade clause and that he wants to win in New York — nowhere else.

The 2016-17 season hasn’t been full of sunshine and roses for the revamped Knicks. After going out to acquire Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah, the team has yet to find a whole heck of a lot of cohesion, has dealt with numerous communication issues and now sits No. 11 in the Eastern Conference with a record of 18-24.

Needless to say, there is a lot of work to do if the Knicks are going to help Anthony realize his dream of winning in New York. Thankfully, hopefully, at least any talk of him leaving can now be put in the rear-view mirror.
