DeMarcus Cousins trade

We can surely expect rumors surrounding a potentail DeMarcus Cousins trade to heat up between now and the trade deadline in late February.

While Cousins has reportedly shown an interest in signing a long-term deal with the Sacramento Kings, the relationship between the two sides have been strained for some time. It’s led to multiple rumors about potential trades in the past.

Now comes this report from John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports indicating that Sacramento has engaged in trade talks that would send Cousins to the Phoenix Suns.

The long-time Arizona-based radio host reports that discussions have centered around Phoenix sending T.J. Warren, Alex Len and what is expected to be a top-five pick this year to the Kings for Cousins. He also notes that the Suns boast two future first-round picks from the Goran Dragic trade with the Miami Heat.

Cousins, 26, has one more year remaining on his deal at just over $18 million. If the two sides were to agree in principle on a deal, Phoenix would have to send more back to Sacramento to make the contracts work.

Despite his oftentimes enigmatic personality, Cousins is one of the top centers in the Associaiton. He is averaging 28.4 points and 10.6 rebounds per game on the season.
