New England Patriots wide receiver Michael Floyd has found himself increasingly involved in the team’s offense since being picked up off waivers in December.
In fact, the former Arizona Cardinals first-round pick recorded a touchdown in New England’s season finale against the Miami Dolphins.
That’s why it is somewhat of a big surprise that Floyd himself is a healthy scratch for New England’s AFC Championship Game tilt against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

Unless you have been hiding under a rock over the past two months, Floyd’s backstory is known. He was waived by Arizona during the season after a DUI arrest. Mere days later, the Patriots picked Floyd up off the waiver wire (more on that here).
We’re not too sure why Floyd is inactive on Sunday. And in reality, drawing any conclusions would be foolish here. The Patriots could have simply decided they’d rather have more depth at another position. Then again, there could be something going on behind the scenes here.
