Michael Bennett praises Zach Zenner: ‘Probably the best’ white RB in NFL

The Seattle Seahawks are hosting the Detroit Lions this weekend, and Michael Bennett knows his defense will be challenged to stop running back Zach Zenner.

In a conference call Tuesday, the defensive end praised the running back while making a comment about his skin color.

Bennett is one of the best guys in the NFL to interview. His unfiltered view of the world is refreshing, and he isn’t afraid to discuss race. Remember, this is the same man who praised Pete Carroll for being the coach who best understand the black athlete in the NFL.

Zenner is a tremendous asset to Detroit right now. After spending last year as a guy who was just on the cusp of emerging as a bell cow running back, he’s emerging as the guy the Lions have been searching for the past umteen years. The past couple of weeks were a great example of what he’s capable of doing, as he carried the ball 32 times for 136 yards and three touchdowns.

The Lions are known as a passing team, and no doubt Matthew Stafford’s arm will have a lot to do with the outcome of this upcoming game against the Seahawks.

That being said, Zenner is probably the X-factor for Detroit. If he has a big game, then it’s far more likely the Lions will win in Seattle. If he’s shut down, it’s likely Detroit’s postseason run will be stopped in its tracks.
