LA Kings broadcaster Bob Miller hospitalized after experiencing ‘discomfort’

Bob Miller has been broadcasting hockey games for the Los Angeles Kings since 1973. On Saturday, preparing for the NHL All-Star Skills Events at the Staples Center in LA, he was hospitalized after experiencing discomfort, according to Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times.

The 78-year-old broadcaster entered the season on a reduced schedule, per the report, after undergoing quadruple bypass heart surgery last year, which is why the precautionary hospital trip was necessitated.

Mike Altieri, the Kings’ senior vice president of communications and broadcasting, provided more details.

“Miller hadn’t been feeling right and was examined on site by medical personnel,” according to Altieri, via Elliott. “As a precaution, the decision was made to have Miller undergo additional tests. Altieri also said Miller was in good spirits as he was transported to the hospital.”

We wish Miller and his family well as he continues to get checked out and hope for a speedy return to action for the legendary broadcaster.
