Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be watching the postseason from home. But in an after season press conference, the quarterback said that he wouldn’t be thinking about the offseason for about a month. In the more immediate future, he’ll be enjoying his birthday.
So, what are his birthday plans?
“Having fun, relaxing, eating crab legs,” Winston said, via Buccaneers.com.
We have to give Winston credit for a few things.
One, he didn’t appear to be joking. If he was, he has a fantastic deadpan delivery style that needs to be commended.
Two, given that he didn’t appear to be joking, we have to give the man credit for consistency. Winston was clearly a fan of crab legs back in his days at Florida State. He was such a fan that he had a rather controversial shoplifting incident (which you can read about here) that raised some flags around draft time. Ultimately, it didn’t cost Winston any draft position, but it did stick with him.
But clearly Winston isn’t letting that incident keep him from enjoying the food he loves on his special day. More power to him.
Winston has been in the public eye for so long that it’s easy to forget how young he is. January 6 will mark the quarterback’s 23rd birthday.
