History suggests Tom Brady will shred Steelers’ defense to a pulp

Tom Brady

If history is any indicator, Tom Brady will absolutely thrash the defense of the Pittsburgh Steelers when the New England Patriots host them Sunday in the AFC Championship Game.

In six career games, Brady has been unbelievably deadly going up against Mike Tomlin’s club, winning five of the six games while putting up tremendous stats.

Brady’s lone loss came in 2011 when the Patriots visited Heinz Field. He didn’t make any mistakes during that game but failed to pass for 200 yards, had no help from his running game and watched as his defense allowed Ben Roethlisberger to pass for 365 yards and two touchdowns on 50 attempts.

The two touchdowns Brady threw in that game represented his lowest total against a Tomlin-led Steelers club, a total he matched this year when the Pats went into Pittsburgh and beat the Steelers by 11 points, 27-16.

Coming off a rough outing against the Houston Texans last weekend, Brady and Co. need to be prepared for the emergence of pass rusher Bud Dupree and the ball-hawking skills of linebacker Ryan Shazier, who has intercepted a pass in each of his last four games.

It’s going to be fascinating to witness the battle between these two teams as they both fight for the chance to represent the AFC in Super Bowl LI.
