Falcons give game ball to Andy Levitre’s wife, who went into labor in stands

Atlanta Falcons left guard Andy Levitre played the entire NFC Divisional playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks while his wife, Katie, sat in the stands, in labor, and watched.

It was an amazing sacrifice on her end to endure her labor pains while her husband played in a game that eventually sent the Falcons to the Conference finals. In reward, the Falcons just gifted Katie a game ball from Sunday’s victory over the Green Bay Packers.

“We gave Andy Levitre’s wife a game ball because it was a week late, and we put ‘ultimate toughness’ on it,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said Monday, according to Vaughn McClure of ESPN. “She had gone into labor during the game, but waited it out. So we thought that was definitely worth the game ball. … She doesn’t know that yet, so if she’s watching, Andy will bring that today.”

Talk about a labor of love. Levitre posted this sweet picture of his baby daughter to his Instagram a few days ago.

The Falcons will now be headed to Houston to play in Super Bowl 51. We wish Levitre and the Falcons luck in what is the team’s first Super Bowl appearance since 1998.
