Draymond Green to wear ‘Sideline Racism’ shoes on MLK Day

There are many different ways to celebrate Martin Luther King Day. Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has chosen to make a statement about the state of current events to honor the legacy of the legendary civil-rights leader.

In basketball terms, Green is clearly saying it’s time to end racism. It’s a message that Dr. Martin Luther King heartily pleaded for in America back in the 1950s and 1960s when people of color were still dealing with significant inequality.

Unfortunately many instances of inequality are still prevalent today, almost 50 years removed from Dr. King’s assassination. It’s an issue that other major athletes have spoken out against this past year, as police brutality against people of color remains an big problem in some parts of America.

Wearing these shoes is a powerful way to send the message that any form of racism needs to be sidelined for good.
