These days, it sure seems like MMA star Conor McGregor is attempting to become the next high king of the fighting world.

In addition to his ongoing interest in fighting boxer Floyd Mayweather, the fighter confirmed that he’s been talking to the WWE about possibly appearing in WrestleMania 33 this upcoming April.

“Never say never. I know there’s been conversations,” McGregor said, per Damon Martin of Fox Sports. “I know Triple H was at the show [UFC 205]. I’d love to go to that WWE and have a real knock. Let one of them have a real knock and see what’s what. We’ll see. There’s conversations ongoing. I’ve turned down some things, conversations still ongoing.”

The Irish fighter, if he does land a spot in WrestleMania 33, would be following in the footsteps of others like Ronda Rousey (2015) and many other fighters and pro athletes who have graced the stage with the WWE’s top stars.

While he’d no doubt love to tap into the lucrative WWE market, McGregor still has one thing on his mind above others — he wants Mayweather.

“I have my eyes on one thing and that’s Mayweather,” he said, per Martin. “That’s the thing I have my eyes on.”

This apparently is no gimmick, either. Both Mayweather and McGregor have done more than simply talk about wanting to fight. At this point, it seems like the only thing holding up a brawl between the two trash-talking fighters is the matter of how the money would be split up.

Given his penchant for loquacious banter aimed at his opponents, the WWE seems like a perfect place for McGregor to pedal his wares. He’s one of the ultimate showmen in pro fighting circles, love him or hate him, and would no doubt bring some added hype to an already highly anticipated show.
