Congressman offers to chair Drew Brees’ potential political campaign in Louisiana

Drew Brees

If Drew Brees ever does follow through with his stated desire to potentially get into politics after his NFL career is finished, he has a prominent supporter ready to spring into action on his behalf.

U.S. House of Representatives member Dr. Ralph Abraham has been serving the 5th district of Louisiana since 2015, and he expressed an intense desire to support Brees. In an interview with TMZ Sports, Abraham said he’d chair Brees’ campaign.

“Drew Brees led the Saints to a Super Bowl win; he can lead our nation to prosperity,” Abraham told TMZ Sports in a statement. “I’ll even chair his campaign in the 24 parishes I represent. In all seriousness, I don’t know what Drew’s politics are, but it doesn’t matter. He’s demonstrated incredible character and class in New Orleans, and the world of politics could use a lot more folks like that.”

Brees’ popularity in Louisiana would be a huge boon to him getting elected as a public servant, and his ability to lead, combined with his magnetic personality and ability to communicate verbally are excellent tools for any politician.

He’s previously stated that he wants to play many more years in the NFL, though one wonders how many more big hits his his 38-year-old body can take. If he ever does get into politics, we can bet he’ll work just as hard to make his community better as he’s done in the past to help the Saints bring a championship to New Orleans.
