Brock Osweiler replaces injured Tom Savage for Texans

The musical chairs at quarterback for the AFC South champion Houston Texans continues in their final regular season tune up for the playoffs.

After struggling horribly in just his second start of the season, Tom Savage was injured in a quarterback sneak on fourth and one in the first half of the team’s game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. He was replaced under center by Brock Osweiler.

This comes just a couple short weeks after Osweiler, a major free-agent bust, was benched for Savage after  turnover filled start against the Jacksonville Jaguars back in Week 15.

The reality of the situation in Houston is pretty clear here. The team’s quarterback position is holding it back from Super Bowl contention. Whether going back to Osweiler out of necessity after showing little faith in him just a short while ago helps save the Texans’ season remains to be seen.

At this point, it still seems rather obvious that head coach Bill O’Brien, who is suddenly on the hot seat, is really interested in watching Osweiler take to the field.

One thing is clear. Unless Houston finds some sort of decent quarterback play, its appearance in the postseason will be short lived.
