Blake Griffin to produce ‘White Man Can’t Jump’ remake

Some movies are just not meant to be remade. Think about the idea of them potentially doing a sequel to “Forrest Gump.” How exactly would that work? What about “Wizard of Oz?” That would be some sort of sick joke, right?

Well, for us children of the 1990s, the same thing can be said about the cult classic “White Man Can’t Jump,” starring Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes.

Unfortunately for us, a new generation of filmmakers seem dead set on recreating this classic.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Blackish” creator Kenya Barris is teaming up with NBA star Blake Griffin and NFL offensive lineman Ryan Kalil to put together a remake of the movie.

“Kenya Barris, the creator of ABC’s acclaimed comedy Black-ish, is teaming with Blake Griffin of the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers and Ryan Kalil of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers to develop a remake of the 1992 sports comedy for 20th Century Fox,” the report read.

According to the report, Griffin and Kalil will produce the film under the label of their production company, Mortal Media, with Noah Weinstein.

We surely have to be skeptical about this project. Who wouldn’t be? Though, 20th Century Fox is the money behind the movie, so at least some Hollywood power players believe in it.

Let’s just hope Griffin himself makes a cameo. Maybe he’ll get dunked on by an older Woody Harrelson reprising his role. That would be tremendous.
