Bill O’Brien: Brock Osweiler will start next weekend

Brock Osweiler

The Houston Texans will not be messing with a winning formula. Right after Brock Osweiler helped deliver the team a Wild Card round win over the Oakland Raiders, Bill O’Brien announced that Osweiler will start in the divisional round.

While Osweiler wasn’t fantastic by any means on Saturday, he did help deliver the victory.

The quarterback was 14-for-25 for 168 yards with a touchdown pass. He also ran six times for 15 yards and a touchdown. Osweiler and DeAndre Hopkins also connected on a beautiful pass to set up the touchdown pass, which you can see here.

The Texans will be on the road in  the divisional round. Their opponent will be revealed after Sunday’s game between the Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers. If Miami wins, Osweiler and company will take on the Kansas City Chiefs. If Pittsburgh wins, Houston will take on the New England Patriots.

Osweiler will likely need to be much better to give his team a chance against Kansas City or New England. He didn’t turn the ball over, which is great. Still, a 56 percent completion rate for only 168 yards will not likely get the job done against either of the AFC’s two best teams.
