Aaron Rodgers seems resigned to Jordy Nelson missing Sunday’s game

It sure looks like the Green Bay Packers will have to win on the road in Dallas this upcoming Sunday without No. 1 receiver Jordy Nelson.

Nelson suffered a significant rib injury in the team’s win over the New York Giants in the Wild Card round and did not return to the game. Nelson hasn’t practiced all week, instead focusing on rehab on the side.

Now comes this rather ominous quote from Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers seeming to suggest that Nelson won’t be able to play in the divisional around on Sunday.

“We’re going to try to get this one and hopefully get him back if he can’t play this week,” Rodgers said, via ESPN.”

This would be an absolutely massive blow to the Packers. Nelson returned this past regular season after missing the entire 2015 campaign to a torn ACL. He responded by putting up 97 receptions for 1,257 yards and a league-leading 14 touchdowns.

With Nelson likely out of action here, the Packers will now be relying on Randall Cobb and Davante Adams to step it up even more in his stead. The two combined for 13 receptions, 241 yards and four scores last week against New York.
