The Los Angeles Rams decision to fire Jeff Fisher has sparked a natural question, might the Rams be able to lure Jim Harbaugh back to the NFL and NFC West?

According to a report from Benjamin Allbright, the answer is a pretty firm no.

Harbaugh should be considered by any team looking for a coach.

In four years with the San Francisco 49ers, he posted a 44-19-1 regular season record, made three trips to the NFC Championship game and one Super Bowl appearance. While Harbaugh’s last season in San Francisco was immensely disappointing, the franchise’s fortunes have had a sharp downfall since his departure.

He’s also enjoyed immense success in college at the University of San Diego, Stanford, and now at Michigan.

Harbaugh does have a tendency to stay at places for a short period of time. But he remained with both Stanford and the 49ers for four years. The 2016 season was only his second at Michigan.

His name will surface with any vacancy. In big big markets like Los Angeles, the narrative will be pushed even harder. But in reality, Harbaugh’s track record suggests that he’ll be more likely to return to the NFL after the 2017 or 2018 season.
