Report: DeSean Jackson ‘intrigued’ by possible Eagles reunion

DeSean Jackson would be a great fit in Tampa Bay

Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson is in a contract year. With how Washington has stacked its wide receiver group with young talent, it wouldn’t be terribly surprising to see Jackson move on to another team next season.

Now, according to ESPN’s Tim McManus, Jackson is likely to be “intrigued” by the possibility of returning to the Philadelphia Eagles once he does hit free agency.

This comes on the heels of McManus’ colleague, Adam Schefter, suggesting that he Eagles will go after their former second-round pick in free agency (more on that here).

There’s definitely a lot to look at here. Jackson’s tenure with Philadelphia came to an abrupt and ugly end when the then Chip Kelly-led Eagles moved on from him following reports of gang ties back in 2013. Following his release from the Eagles, at least one member of the organization indicated that they were concerned about having Jackson around young players (more on that here).

All this came at a time when there was no real evidence of Jackson’s supposed gang affiliation. In fact, the star receiver himself went on to call the Eagles’ actions a “smear campaign.”

Needless to say, there’s no love lost between the Eagles and Jackson.

Though, it is definitely important to note that things have changed quite a bit in Philly since this ugly situation. Kelly is now the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers and the Eagles are in desperate need of a top-end wide reciver for young signal caller Carson Wentz.

It is surely something to keep an eye on as the 2016 season comes to a conclusion. Whether this means Jackson will end up where it all started remains to be seen.
