Redskins TE Jordan Reed ‘optimistic’ about playing Sunday

Jordan Reed released

Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed believes he’ll be on the field for Week 14’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Mike Jones of The Washington Post quoted Reed, saying that he is “optimistic” about playing. Reed also said that “It’s painful but something I can deal with.”

Reed missed last week’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals after injuring his left shoulder in a loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving.

The Redskins will certainly need help from Reed for their final playoff push.

The tight end has caught 59 passes for 630 yards in just nine games this season. His 59 receptions are tied with Pierrce Garcon for the team lead. Reed has also caught five touchdown passes, trailing only Jamison Crowder (seven) for the team lead.

Washington has already been eliminated from the NFC East race, but are only one-half game behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the NFC’s final wild card spot.
