Patriots WR Malcolm Mitchell clueless about fantasy football

If you play fantasy football, then chances are you’ve heard of New England Patriots receiver Malcolm Mitchell, who has been coming on strong of late.

Interestingly enough, the talented wideout has no idea what fantasy football is all about, even though he says his family talks to him about it.

“I don’t know much about it,” Mitchell said, per Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal. “I know I have family members mention it, but I never know what they’re talking about. I’m not sure how that works. If someone said it, I’d probably have no idea what it means.”

This sure sounds like something right out of the Bill Belichick playbook.

Mitchell has been racking up points for his fantasy owners the past few weeks, catching 17 receptions for 22 yards and three touchdowns.

Not surprisingly, he’s one of the more popular adds as fantasy leagues move into the playoffs, especially in light of Rob Gronkowski’s season-ending back surgery. And as we know, the more Tom Brady starts to get comfortable going to a guy, the more that guy benefits from increased targets.

When informed he has become popular among those who do partake in fantasy football, Mitchell responded by saying, “That’s cool, but I really have no idea about fantasy football.”

Per the report, right as he said that, backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett jokingly told Mitchell, “I’ve got you on my team!”

It’s crazy to think that a young man who has been immersed in football would have no clue about fantasy sports, but perhaps Mitchell has been so absorbed with learning his craft that he has developed extraordinary tunnel vision in the process. And in the long run, we’re confident he won’t be disappointed by the results.
