Panthers LB Luke Kuechly returns to practice

Luke Kuechly

The last time we saw Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly on the football field, he was visibly emotional after suffering yet another concussion. It came against the New Orleans Saints back in Week 11 and was just a gut-wrenching scene.

Even with his team pretty much out of playoff contention, Kuechly has decided to give it a go as the season draws to a conclusion. He has cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol and was practicing with the Panthers on Wednesday.

Some may question the wisdom of Kuechly attempting to return with his Panthers going absolutely nowhere, but the dude is a competitor. He saw how bad Carolina looked in a 40-7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night and was likely upset he couldn’t do anything about it.

Kuechly has a history of concussions dating back to his days with Boston College. So while he did return to practice, it’s not a given that the four-win Panthers will risk further injury to their star linebacker this season.
