Marvin Lewis: Outlook for A.J. Green to play Sunday is ‘partly sunny’

A.J. Green

The Cincinnati Bengals may be getting A.J. Green back in time for Week 15’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

According to coach Marvin Lewis, Green is expected to practice on Wednesday. Joe Danneman of Fox 19 Now in Cincinnati also quoted Lewis, saying that Green’s chances of playing on Sunday were “partly sunny.”

Given how slim the Bengals’ postseason hopes are, bringing Green back at this point may seem pointless. Still, the team owes a full effort to itself and the fans until it has been officially eliminated.

Despite missing three games, Green has been by far Cincinnati’s top statistical receiver. He’s caught 66 passes for 964 yards. Tyler Boyd is second on the team in receptions with 48, while Brandon LaFell is Green’s closest competitor in yards with 574.

The Bengals’ next loss will eliminate them from playoff contention.
