Jon Gruden has a pretty cushy gig on ESPN. He gets to sit up in the press box and get paid to analyze football. It’s a job most of us would dream of having. It also allows him to have more time with his family and remain somewhat stress-free on the job.
Despite this, rumors continue to circulate that Gruden, a former head coach with the Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is looking to get back into coaching.
This year, the rumors surround a potential job with the Los Angeles Rams. It’s even gotten to the point where certain reports suggest that Gruden himself is the “focal point” in the Rams’ search to replace the fired Jeff Fisher.
Take it for what it’s worth, but Gruden himself took to the ESPN airwaves to deny these rumors.

“I love football, but I’m very happy doing what I’m doing,” Gruden said, on Mike & Mike. “Right now, I have no intentions of coaching.”
Of course, Gruden isn’t going to go on the air on ESPN and claim that he’s interested in another job. That would be utterly foolish.
Though, this surely does fall in line with what he’s said when other coaching vacancies have opened up in previous seasons. It seems to be somewhat of a stretch to believe Gruden would get back into coaching right now. With that said, the Rams do offer the nation’s second-largest media market and a soon-to-be-built state of the art venue. There’s definitely some lure there.
Gruden last coached in the NFL with the Buccaneers back in 2008. He posted a 57-55 record with Tampa Bay, earning a Super Bowl title in his first season with the team. Prior to that, the well-known broadcaster led the Raiders to a 34-28 mark in four seasons.
