Andrew Luck among injured Colts players returning to practice

In a recent bit of good news for a weary Indianapolis Colts squad, three key players returned to practice today, per Indy Star’s Zak Keefer.

Vontae Davis is the Colts’ number one cornerback, an elite man coverage corner who has been battling an ankle injury of late that has sapped his ability.

The big name here is starting quarterback Andrew Luck, who suffered a concussion two weeks ago and has finally cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol.

In Luck’s absence, the Colts turned to sixth-year pro Scott Tolzien, a capable backup who had a rough, albeit admirable, performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thanksgiving Day.

With Luck back, the Colts’ offense can attempt to get back on track as they face a formidable Jets defense this Sunday.

Clayton Geathers is also a key member of the defensive backfield, one of three safeties rotated between two spots for the struggling Colts. Geathers had been dealing with an injured foot.
