Report: Alshon Jeffery suspended four games for PEDs

Alshon Jeffery

Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has been reportedly suspended four games for violating the NFL’s PED policy.

Chicago, already in a wasted season, will now lose one of its most talented players on both sides of the ball. Jeffery has caught 40 passes for 630 yards and one touchdown for the Bears this year.

This suspension will certainly hurt him as he approaches free agency next year.

Jeffery signed his franchise tag this past spring, which originally was set to pay him $14.6 million. Now he’ll lose a hefty chunk of that money due to this suspension and will likely not get the same kind of lucrative offer next spring that he might have if he had stayed off the NFL’s red-flag radar.

The Bears, now 2-7 on the season, are in free-fall mode. Head coach John Fox’s job is reportedly not anywhere near secure as the Bears attempt to figure out the best way to move forwards, likely without Jay Cutler as well.
