Morris Claiborne ‘tore a piece of bone off’ pelvis, out 2-3 weeks

Morris Claiborne

In the “sounds worse than it actually is” category, news today that Dallas Cowboys cornerback Morris Claiborne tore a piece of bone off his pelvis in a matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles has us squirming a bit.

The most interesting part of that news is that he will only be out two to three more weeks with the injury, per Jon Machota of DallasNews.com. This seems remarkable considering he tore a piece of bone off of his pelvis.

That sounds extremely painful, at least in our non-expert analysis.

Claiborne talked about what he felt when the injury first occurred.

“I just felt my leg start burning and all the muscles started twitching,” Claiborne said. “I could tell right then and there it wasn’t good.”

He then followed up with this diagnosis on the length of time he needs to heal up.

“It’s something that’s supposed to be able to heal on its own,” Claiborne said. “That’s where we’re at now, giving it time to heal. If it doesn’t heal the way it’s supposed to then we’ll start looking at other options.”

Those “other options” include surgery to reattach the bone shard and muscle to the pelvis, which of course would likely sideline Claiborne for longer than a few weeks.

Get well soon, Morris Claiborne. You’re definitely a warrior.
