The Indianapolis Colts saw Andrew Luck return to the practice field Monday, a good sign that he’s progressing well after suffering a concussion in Week 11.

Luck played the entire game for Indy two weeks ago against the Tennessee Titans, leading the team to a 24-17 win. It was only after the game that he was placed on the NFL’s concussion protocol, a shady development that warrants further investigation.

Early last week the Colts announced Luck would be held out of the Thanksgiving Day game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. His absence was keenly felt, as Indy had no chance on the road, losing 28-7 while Scott Tolzien turned the ball over twice.

While he has not yet been cleared to play in a game, the fact that Luck is back at practice suggests he’ll likely be available for the team’s upcoming game against the New York Jets.

Now at 5-6 on the season, Indianapolis must get on a winning streak to have a chance of making it into the playoffs. Getting Luck back in the lineup will help tremendously. The good news is that the AFC South is currently led by the Houston Texans, who have a 6-5 record, while Tennessee remains a threat at 6-6.
