The oddsmakers are clearly not expecting Auburn to give their top-seeded rival any trouble. According to Vegasinsider.com, Alabama entered opened as 18.5 point favorites against the Tigers in the Iron Bowl.

The Tide will enter the game with a perfect 11-0 mark and are the clear No. 1 team in the country. Still, the Tigers don’t figure to be pushovers.

Alabama hasn’t covered that 18.5 mark against Auburn since 2012’s 49-0 victory. The Tigers famously won in 2013, lost by 11 points in 2014 and 16 points in 2015.

This year, Auburn is 8-3 and entered its last game 16th in the College Football Playoff rankings. Also, while it is a rivalry game, Alabama’s incentive has to be at least somewhat tempered. The Crimson Tide has already clinched a spot in the SEC Championship Game against Florida (in which ‘Bama will also be heavily favored).

Additionally, while a loss to Auburn would sting, it would certainly not knock Alabama out of the Top-4. Unless the Ohio State vs. Michigan winner is overwhelming, a loss would quite possibly not even knock the Tide from the top spot.

With all of that said, it’s awfully hard to go against the Tide here. Bama has been dominant all year on both sides of the ball,.
