The early game happening between Notre Dame and Syracuse featured a ton of action in the first couple of minutes.
First, the Fighting Irish scored a touchdown on the game’s first offensive play — a 79-yard thing of beauty. Then they allowed Syracuse to march down the field on an eight-play, 75-yard drive that ended in a touchdown and took barely two minutes off the clock.
But rather than tie the game up with an extra point, Syracuse watched the Irish take a three-point lead on a blocked kick and return for a score.
This score put Notre Dame up by three points, 9-6, and at this point there was only two-and-a-half minutes off the clock in the first quarter.
The craziness didn’t stop here, either. Before we knew it, Notre Dame had scored three more touchdowns and had a 23-13 lead before even six minutes had ticked off the clock.
