Tony Romo officially returns to practice for first time since injury

Tony Romo has no plans to file his retirement paperwork

Since injuring himself after brutal hit during the preseason, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has been rehabbing from a broken bone in his back.

Finally resuming some activity, Romo was spotted throwing on the sidelines on Wednesday. Now, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, Romo has participated in his first official team practice.

Per the report, Romo is still limited in some capacity. This is encouraging news for the 36-year-old quarterback. But because rookie quarterback Dak Prescott is playing so well, we can only wonder if Romo will see the field again this year.

His body is clearly vulnerable to injury. A couple of tackles last season dealt Romo back-to-back clavicle breaks. This time around, it only took one preseason tumble to land Romo out of commission for several weeks.

In the meantime, the Cowboys are soaring high with a 5-1 record, leading the NFC East. Prescott has been nothing short of stellar with a current quarterback rating of 103.9. To date, the rookie has tallied 10 total touchdowns compared to just one interception.

The Cowboys are on a roll. And despite the good news about Romo, the old saying don’t fix what is not broken comes to mind. We do wish Romo success on his path to a full recovery.
