Report: Dak Prescott to be Cowboys Week 8 starter

Dak Prescott

The Dallas Cowboys head into their Week 7 bye with a 5-1 record and winners of five consecutive games. They boast Offensive Rookie of the Year candidates at both quarterback and running back. Heck, Ezekiel Elliott might very well be an MVP candidate at this point in the season.

Though, Dallas isn’t without the drama most figured the team would be void of. That drama surrounds a franchise quarterback in Tony Romo that’s expected to return from a back injury at some point soon. When Romo does return, the Cowboys will have a decision to make.

Do they stick with a red-hot Dak Prescott under center or show loyalty and respect for what Romo has done for the better part of the past decade?

The answer to this question appears to be weeks away. Though, we now know that Prescott will reportedly be under center when Dallas takes to the field again in Week 8.

The more interesting takeaway from Rapoport’s report is that Romo might not even be ready for the Cowboys’ Week 9 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

This would give Prescott two more games, including the team’s Week 8 outing against the Philadelphia Eagles, to prove he should hang on to the starting job for the remainder of the year.

When Romo is 100 percent healthy, we have no idea what the end result here is going to be. Owner Jerry Jones doesn’t seem to have an answer. Meanwhile, it appears that Cowboys players prefer the team stick with what’s working.
