Take heart, New England Patriots fans, because Jimmy Garoppolo is reportedly set to start on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. This means Julian Edelman can do what he does best — catch passes — instead of attempting to run the team’s offense as its quarterback.

This breaking news comes courtesy of WEEI’s Kirk Minihane.

Both Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett were listed as questionable leading up to the AFC East rivalry game, but Garoppolo expressed optimism about his recovery earlier this week.

“It’s coming along,” Garoppolo said Wednesday. “Day-by-day right now, trying to get to the best of my ability on Sunday,” he said. “Just trying to get better every day, That’s all that you can ask for with this. … We’re just taking it day-by-day, really.”

While Brissett did a passable job in Week 3 against the Houston Texans, there is no doubt the Patriots are better off with Garoppolo. He has more time in Josh McDaniels’ system, has more experience and is simply a better quarterback right now.

So far this season, the third-year pro has completed 71.2 percent of his passes for 496 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions.
