Jaguars owner meets with players, coaches amid struggles

Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan is a hands-on executive. He’s been clear about the goals for his team on the field this season. And through seven weeks, it’s relatively clear those goals have not been met.

So it’s not much of a surprise that Khan had a face-to-face meeting with Jaguars players and coaches following their Week 7 loss to the Oakland Raiders.

“Jaguars coach Gus Bradley’s usual Monday team meeting had a special visitor this week – owner Shad Khan,” Jacksonville.com reported Wednesday evening. “Khan attended the meeting a day after the Jaguars’ 33-16 loss to the Oakland Raiders.”

It is somewhat surprising, however, that the meeting with Khan took place during a normal weekly get together between Bradley and his players. This seems to suggest that the eccentric owner wanted to gauge how these meetings have been going throughout Jacksonville’s 2-4 start to the season.

This also comes mere days after Khan and general manager David Caldwell had a heated discussion during Jacksonville’s loss to the Raiders on Sunday. Some reports even suggested that Caldwell exited the suite in tears.

Bradley and Caldwell have long been figured to be on the hot seat. And Khan himself set playoff expectations at the start of the season.

Should things continue to go south here, rumors will surely start to heat up regarding a couple potential high-profile firings in Jacksonville. Khan’s attendance at the team meeting only magnifies this further.
